Spotted in Dublin – a sign for a WiFi hotspot … and none other than the old-but-never-ageing bloodsucker Count Dracula was impressed as a pictorial reference. Not that Dracula ever was in Dublin. But he is an honorary Dubliner, as his creator (so to say … the creator of the modern Dracula myth at least) Bram Stoker came from here.
The portrait is a typical Bela Lugosi thing, dressed to the nines for dinner. And done as a mosaic, resembling early computer graphics. This is how a vampire looked on a Commodore C64.
There are quite a few of these mosaic plaques around Dublin, apparently. Must start searching for them … up to now I only have spotted this and one other. Interesting details of city life. And modern life. So another thing to put on the list. Before they vanish.
